To achieve a youth shaped programme it is vital that adult volunteers and young people work together.
Here at 2nd Urmston we have a buddy scheme where every youth member that is new to the section, is assigned a designated “buddy” for the duration of their link to guide them through scout ceremonies and games. This helps scouts to develop skills for life and helps newcomers to integrate into the section.
We encourage all young people to get involved in shaping their own programme. We achieve this by holding youth forums to allow youth members to give feedback and allow their voices to be heard. Programme planning sessions are used to allow young people to discuss with adult members activities/goals they would like to achieve.
We strive to support our youth members in making decisions, developing leadership and teamwork skills and taking responsibility in how they shape their scout adventure.
